The Perry’s Game. The director J. J. Perry comes back with another action comedy, this time with Dave Bautista and a bunch of martial art stars.
Another movie
Do you remember the little masterpiece Day Shift? Well, The Killer’s Game has the same “loco” director, J. J. Perry, who double down his action comedy’s genre, settling little by little an identifying mark. The ingredients are the same: comedy, action and a bunch of martial art stars that are the best there are at what they do, but what they do isn’t very nice…
The ingredients
Dave Bautista is the protagonist of The Killer’s Game and he is doing a lot, capable in the same scene to entertain with his humor, build a realist action scene and show his fighting skills. All this from the second half of the movie however, because the first part of The Killer’s Game is reserved to settle the love story with Sofia Boutella, who is playing Joe’s (Bautista) girlfriend. The plot is original and funny, but reserving half a movie only for the love story, with such a bunch of martial artists… I found it too much! The Day Shift formula instead was better because the action scenes were integrated during all the movie long.
Martial artists and more
Other than Bautista, in The Killer’s Game, we have Scott Adkins, who like in Day Shift is paired up with another great martial artist, this time with the WWE superstar who is making his acting debut¨, Drew Galloway. The killer’s list follows another great martial art master, the chameleonic Marko Zaror, who after John Wick: Chapter 4 and The Fist of the Condor, he comes back as a flamenco fighter, delivering one of the most interesting fighting scene of the year:
The Perry’s Game is successful and personally I can’t wait to see another of his movies, every martial artist was capable to show his signature moves despite the little time given. What do you think about it? Did you like The Killer’s Game? Tell us in the comments below!
