I notice the face of Jamie Foxx on one of the new suggestions of the streaming service, so I decided to give it a chance. I read the plot, a vampire movie… I like vampire movies! I checked the cast: Dave Franco and Snoop Dogg, ok I have to watch it!
What is this?
I started Day Shift a little biased, expecting a comedy horror film, and it was. But it was also something else… From the very first scene, I noticed that the action in it was really high level, what a sequence of grappling and projection moves, this is Brazilian Jujitsu. I checked the playing time: three minutes of fight non-stop! I paused the movie, checked the wiki: director J. J. Perry, producer Chad Stahelski. Ok I don’t need anything else just continue.
These vampires really don’t suck
Continuing watching the movie just confirms what I saw in the first minutes. This movie is just amazing, really follow the comedy horror genre with vampire doing astonishing bjj moves. All the characters are fun and really believes in what they are doing. The vampire story remembered me the old days, when people use to watch Fright Night and The Lost Boys. Los Angeles with all its sun is perfect and very original as location for the plot.

The breakpoint was seeing Steve Howey and Scott Adkins as the Nazarian Brothers, two badass vampire hunters, who were killing countless of bloodsuckers in a variety of moves, that even Bruce Lee could approve. And guys… Snoop Dogg is here…
