This year more than ever before, Netflix is the right place to watch some good animated series. The anime and cartoons that I am referring to are true hidden gems for enthusiasts of martial arts like us and could be considered as the worthy Baki’s successors. So no more talks and let’s see what Netflix got.

Kengan Ashura

The transposition of this unbelievable martial art anime started on 2019 on Netflix. No wonder that the first season was a true success. This year, Kengan Ashura is back on the platform with the first part of the second season. For those who never hear about Kengan Ashura, it is an anime about a fighting arena where the most lethal and skilled fighters in Japan are fighting each other in order to win the seat of Kengan Association chairman, a very powerful and prestigious position. Each fighter represents an association and the protagonist, Ohma Tokita, he is the representative of the Nogi Group with his caretaker Kazuo Yamashita.

Onimusha

The famous Capcom’s video game series Onimusha: Warlords is finally an anime. The adaptation makes already the news since the notorious Takashi Miike is involved as chief director and the main character, Musashi Miyamoto, he is modelled after the great actor and producer Toshiro Mifune. The anime tells the story of a legendary swordsman and a samurai brotherhood called to defeat a zombie uprising.

Blue Eye Samurai

This cartoon series is more than particular, set in Japan’s Edo period, here it is another original story of a swordmaster who is seeking vengeance against four white men. Blue eye Samurai recalls the cartoons of the early century like Samurai Jack or Afro Samurai, the mood and the tones are pretty similar. In short, we could not expect anything less from the writers Michael Green and Amber Noizumi with the animation of Blue Spirit.
