The last game of Dead or Alive were realised more than a year ago. Today, the sexiest fighting game ever launches its last DLCs, and a last goodbye is mandatory.
Game or Girls?
Besides been one of the most famous fighting games of all times, Dead or Alive is overall appreciated for its fan-service. Yes… it is true: the game has a passionate interweaving of stories (even with other franchises: first of all with Ninja Gaiden), an original fighting system and the capability to be innovative with each new title. But the majority of people (even myself) is looking also for… the girls! Gorgeous and strong fighters in bikini or in school uniforms that fight each other as if there is no tomorrow.
The series producers know well what I am talking about and… Here we have got some element improvements like: seeing character sweating or clothes that can become wet, dirty, and even ripped. With the Dead or Alive Xtreme titles the erotic component is explicit: in these games we can play beach volley or “capture the flag”, drive jet-ski and even gambling in order to collect all the girl bikinis.
DOA’s fans are very active and in the community two hashtag stands the test of time: #teamayane vs #teamkasumi. But who are these beautiful girls? Here it is a brief recap:
Team Kasumi
Kasumi is the ninja princess of the Mugen Tenshin clan, an ancient shinobi family located somewhere in the mountains of Japan. The princess Kasumi became “nukenin” (a missing shinobi) after ran away from her home, in order to avenge her older brother Hayate, badly injured by her uncle, the rogue ninja Radou. Since then Kasumi will meet a lot of strong fighter and participating to the Dead or Alive Tournament were Radou is supposed to participate.
Kasumi’s fighting style is a balanced combination of fast and powerful attacks with the addition of special techniques ninja. As heiress of the Tenjimon chief clan, Kasumi knows how to perform ninja spells like the teleportation and deadly secret moves like the “Rekku Jinpu Satsu”, a strong release of electric energy from the hands.
Team Ayane
Leaving the clan without permission is a mark of death for the princess Kasumi. So the Mugen Tenshin clan ordered to its best warrior to kill the traitor, in order to secure its secrecy. The strongest ninja that remain is Ayane, the half-sister and cousin of Kasumi and Hayate. The kunoichi will trying to accomplish her duty to the clan, avenging Hayate and killing Kasumi.
Ayane’s fighting style like the one of Kasumi is pretty balanced. Her fast and lethal ninjutsu techniques have made her well know as the “Tengu Girl”, mystical creature half-human and half-bird of the Japanese iconography.
As we saw. Dead or Alive is a very unique fighting game with very particular features. The series developed by Team Ninja is capable to offer one of the best fighting experience of all time. The games of the franchise are continuously boosted by the sex appeal of the female characters. Kasumi and Ayane, the two protagonists, are the perfect symbols of DOA, there is only a question left… Which team are you on: Team Ayane or Team Kasumi?
