Celebrating 10 years of Assassin’s Fist. The best series transposition of a fighting video game is celebrating its 10th anniversary. Let’s dive once again into the origins of street fighting.
Asatsuken in real life
Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist born as a web series developed by Joey Ansa and Christian Howard, both also in the series as main characters. The story focus in Ryu and Ken, when they were students in the Gouken’s dojo, discovering the past of his master and the Dark Arts, the Ansatsuken.
The unbelievable realism of the street fighter’s techniques in this series made us believe that Ansatsuken really was invented. None of that could be realized without the mastermind Joey Ansa, developer and director of the series, who plays also Akuma, the legendary villain of the series. Thanks then to the amazing skills of the protagonists: Mike Moh and Christian Howard, Ryu and Ken respectively, the most iconic martial art style of the videogames was indeed brought to life.
World Warriors?
It is really a pity to do not see the series shines as it deserves. The series did really good when it came out, so much that a second series, Street Fighter: Resurrection was developed in order to promote the new Street Fighter V, bringing back Moh and Howard as Ryu and Ken, but focusing on the new characters Laura Matsuda and Charlie Nash, played respectively by Natascha Hopkins and Alain Moussi. The new series counts only 4 episodes and did not have the success of the first one, driving the series continuity to an end.
Rumors tells that Joey Ansa never give up the idea to bring back the Assassin’s Fist series, expanding the universe towards new fighters. At the same time a new transposition movie seems to be in development. Hoping to see the amazing British martial artist involved in the new street fighter movie transposition, why not celebrating 10 years of Assassin’s Fist watching the series one more time?
