It is quite rare seeing two distinct anime universes colliding, but when it happens it is a true event! In Baki Hanma vs Kengan Ashura, a bunch of warriors from the two martial art anime series are called to fight each other in the famous underground arena below the Tokyo Dome.
The one hour movie is a true mix of the two series, not only for the characters, but also for the distinctive elements of the two anime like the voice-over of Baki or the Kengan Tournament commentators Sayaka Katahara and Jerry Tyson. The two organizer of the respective tournament of the anime series are in this shared universe old friends, so Mitsunari Tokugawa and Katahara Metsudo are responsible to recruit their best fighters in order to let them compete in this clash of martial art series.

Unlike we can imagine, Baki Hanma vs Kengan Ashura won’t show a lot of fights, but it will focus on only three matches:
Hanayama vs Saw Paing
If Hanayama “the king of Yakuza” is one of the most popular characters of the Baki series, present since the childhood saga of Baki the Grappler, Saw Paing Yoroizuka has not the same relevance in Kengan Ashura. Despite being the great Lethwei champion of Myanmar, Saw Paing did not very well in the Kengan Annihilation Tournament, winning against Karo Yoshinari the fisherman, but losing in the second round to Mikazuchi Rei “The Lightning God”. The fight between this two however is pure show.
Jack Hanma vs Raian Kure
The second match instead involves two rivals of the respective protagonist of the series, Raian Kure, “The Devil” of the unfamous Kure Clan, who really push Ohma to his limit during the Kengan Annihilation Tournament, and the brother of Baki, the terrifying Jack Hammer. This match is a pure evil clash.
Baki Hanma vs Ohma Tokita
Finally the main event, the ultimate fight between the protagonists of the series, Baki Hanma e Ohma Tokita.
Baki vs Ohma, this movie on the one hand gives us the match of the century, on the other hand leave us with a bitter taste in the mouth for the unfinished match. Will we ever find out who is stronger between Ohma and Baki?
