For this Halloween wolves have nightmares… And I am not talking about werewolves, but about witchers, or more precisely about the animated movie The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, the spin-off of the popular Netflix series The Witcher.
A strong production
The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf premiered on August 23 this year, thanks to the collaboration of the producer Lauren Schmidt Hissrich and Studio Mir. The American television producer and screenwriter Schmidt Hissrich was already producer of the The Witcher live action Netflix series and worked for the awarded Daredevil series. The south Korean animation Studio Mir instead was responsible for the animation of many Warner Bros. projects, among them the Mortal Kombat Legacy saga.
A centuries-old legend
The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf focus on the origin story of Geralt’s mentor, the witcher Vesemir. The young Vasemir embraces the brutal training and body-altered experiments of the witchers, after witness a monster’s exorcism by his future master Deglan, leaving his life of servant and his bestfriend Illyana. After many years spent fighting monster for money, the witcher’s path will bring Vesemir to face the altered elven girl Kitsu, in a war where corruption and vengeance take over. For this Halloween wolves have nightmares…
Anime-influenced animation
Like in the series, there are only few and flashy fights, but the quality of them reach high standards. If you have seen the Castlevania animated series on Netflix, you will probably agreed on some resemblances, like the personality of the characters, the magic fights and the animation. Despite these similarities, the two shows differ from each other quite a lot for their storytelling and their pace.
A Witcher’s story
This dark fantasy animated movie takes up the pace and the elements of the live action series, playing with flashbacks and delivering bloody violent scenes. Trying to follow the correct order of the events of the movie will be hard like in the series, better then to get carried away by the enchant and watch the illusion until the end, you will not regret it!
There will always be more monsters, Geralt
Vesemir
For this Halloween wolves have nightmares… Are you interested to have some of them? If yes, have a look at The Witcher: Nightmare of the wolf! If not, which movie are you going to watch this Halloween?
