3 seasons, Netflix acquisition, a lot of guest characters and a videogame adaptation, Cobra Kai is stronger than never before! The third season of the Karate Kid legacy is the show of the moment. Spoiler Alert!
Where were we
We left off with the ultimate reckoning, the school brawl between the Cobra Kai and the Miyagi-Do students. The third season starts right from here: Miguel in a Coma, Samantha suffering from panic attacks, Robby fugitive, Tory going completely to the dark side and the two sensei reconsidering their karate. To save their children and students, Sensei LaRusso and Sensei Lawrence will try to collaborate for the entire season.
More fights and why
The series fights are took to the next level, underlining the mental aspect of every character in “why we are fighting for”. In this third season, after the school brawl, the All Valley Tournament was cancelled. This was a very crucial moment because Miguel and Sam were able to save the tournament and explicit what the tournament is representing for they: “We want a place where we can compete, fairly and safely”. But we know that the world could be wild and dangerous, and the Cobra Kai is always around to prove it:
Kreese is back officially as the only Sensei of Cobra Kai, finding in Robby the new perfect successor of the dojo. It is up to LaRusso and Lawrence collaborate to stop the threat in a finale of season that sets once for all the ultimate battleground.
Very special guest stars
A very welcomed surprise of this season, especially for the old fans of the saga, are the guest stars. The old character of Ali Mills (Elisabeth Shue), Kumiko (Tamlyn Tomita), Chozen (Yuji Okumoto) and Yuna (Traci Toguchi) make their appearance after 30 long years. Seeing the same actors after all this time is unbelievable. And maybe it is really here where Cobra Kai differs from all the other show, not seeing accurately where the fiction stops and the reality starts… Like the last day of the actor Rob Garrison (Tommy in the series), who disappear a few hours after acting her death.
It is Cobra Kai time
With Cobra Kai moving to Netflix, the already strong establishment of the series is assured and his popularity is international. The cast believe in the saga and this mix of generations bodes well for a continuity beyond the Cobra Kai series, building his own universe. Cobra Kai is stronger than never before, and if you are waiting for the fourth season like me, play the videogame…
What character of the Cobra Kai saga do you like the most? Who will win the next All Valley Tournament?
